Seagull named
"Best Channel Vendor"
for Fourth Year in a Row

In the January 2012 issue of Business Solutions Magazine, Seagull Scientific was honored for the fourth year in a row as a "Best Channel Vendor" by the magazine's subscribers. Seagull was one of only two manufacturers of label software to be honored, and the only one to be honored for a fourth consecutive year. (Seagull Scientific's flagship product, BarTender, has also been recognized by the readers of BSM for all three consecutive years of a separate survey for "Best Channel Product.") According to the magazine article, Seagull Scientific's top two categories were Product Features and Product Reliability (Please see the sidebar for more details about the voting and other categories.)

Thanking More than a Thousand Resellers!

This isn't a case of a single freelancer writing a "review" of products and posting it on the internet. This poll was tallied from well over four thousand individuals at more than a thousand reseller companies that make their day-to-day living selling auto ID and point of sale products. These resellers need more than just reliable, high-performing products – they need vendors they can rely on for top quality customer service and support. Fortunately for us, that means Seagull!

"It is truly a huge honor for us every time BSM's reseller polls come out," said Jeremy Seigel, Seagull Scientific's CEO. "We obviously need to thank our loyal world-wide team of resellers. They work so very hard for us and yet they keep taking time out from their busy work schedules to vote for us in BSM's surveys. For 2012, we are planning to make both BarTender and Seagull even better, so hopefully our resellers will know that we aren't taking them for granted!"

Details about the Poll

Business Solutions collected 10,833 votes from more than 1,000 resellers voting for a multitude of vendors in a variety of vendor categories. Manufacturers of numerous hardware and software products were voted on, ranging from barcode printers and scanners to point-of-sale and payment process software. And, of course, the poll included our very favorite category: "Labeling Software."

Standard across the various vendor categories, resellers were asked to evaluate seven qualities:

To minimize controversy and avoid confusion caused by companies with very closely-matched scores, BSM does not publish the actual numerical scores. Instead, depending on the overall scores and the number of products in the category, the editors select the top one, two or three vendors in each category as "Best Channel Vendor."

The editors of BSM strongly emphasize that a company's presence as an advertiser in the magazine is in absolutely no way a factor in the voting tally. Voters could only vote once, and only the votes of BSM's reseller-subscribers were considered. This prevents people from anonymously "stuffing the ballots" with votes for themselves.
