BarTender v8.0 Service Release Downloads

Service Release Overview

The free Service Release(s) on this page can only be used to upgrade existing installations of BarTender where the version number begins with 8.0. (You cannot update earlier versions of BarTender with the service release on this page.  Users of earlier versions of BarTender will need to purchase an upgrade.)

Changes with Version 8.01 (SR1)

BarTender version 8.01 service release 1 ("SR1") was released on June 22, 2007. This was build #2153 and the first service release for BarTender 8.0. It introduces the following changes:

• Translations: Content that was new in version 8.00 was not translated until now
• Font sizes greater than 720 points now supported
• SAP Aii XML compatibility
• "Silent install" option now supported
• Binary encoding option for QR and MicroQR code
• New USPS 4-state customer barcode
• Some miscellaneous bug fixes

Version 8.01 (SR2) is Certified Vista-Compatible by Microsoft

Version 8.01, service release 2, is build #2160 of BarTender and was released on July 11, 2007.

As explained in our recent Vista Certification News Flash, BarTender has been compatible with Windows Vista since January of 2007. Now, with Service Release 2, our Vista compatibility has been formally certified by Microsoft. The only difference relative to Service Release 1 is one minor change we were required to make to the Install program.

Version 8.01 (SR3) Achieves Next Level of SAP Certification

Service release 3 is build #2179 of BarTender and was released on September 4th, 2007.  The actual code changes to SR3 were very minor, consisting mostly of a small change required for completion of our upgraded SAP certification.

Updated Translations for Getting Started Manuals

Our printed "Getting Started" manuals have long been published in 23 languages.  However, the new documentation specific to capabilities introduced on March 21st, 2007 with version 8.0 was until now printed only in English. Starting with SR3, those English sections have now also been translated.

Installation Instructions

Be sure to remove any existing installation of v8.0x before installing the update. If you will be installing the BarTender service release on the same computer, you do not need to deactivate your existing software upon uninstalling. (That will save you from having to activate again upon installation of the service release.)

If You Already Received and Installed an Earlier Version of 8.0x

• Please use the "Add/Remove Programs" function of the Windows Control Panel to uninstall the existing BarTender software.
• Download and install the service release.
• If you deactivated your existing BarTender software, then (when prompted) enter the Product Key Code (PKC) that came with your original software.

If You Received but Never Installed an Earlier Version of 8.0x

• Download and install the service release instead of the BarTender software that you previously received. However, when prompted for a Product Key Code (PKC), provide the one that came with your original software.

If You Never Received an Earlier Version of 8.0x

• Like all copies of BarTender, the service release can be installed and run as a 30-day Trial Edition. However, if you never received a real copy of BarTender, you will likely not be able to supply an appropriate Product Key Code (PKC) when prompted. The newly downloaded copy of BarTender would therefore become a “demo version” after its first 30-days of normal, unlimited use.

Because the multilingual edition supports instant switching between more than 20 languages, it takes somewhat longer to download than the English-only edition. (The supported languages can be seen in the list of BarTender "Getting Started" Manuals.)

If you are updating an Enterprise installation, you will also want to update Seagull License server. (This is not needed for Basic and Professional editions.)
